"I have been at and experienced the excitement of every College World Series beginning with 1995. The college game–with the dedication and sportsmanship of the young people–is much more interesting than the professional game. That plus the atmosphere in Omaha makes it an event that every American, especially the baseball fan, needs to experience. The games are real family events with the young, the old, and families being there. The young players compete as a team and do their utmost to win for their school and their teammates. This 2006 Cal State Fullerton baseball team is an outstanding example of that will to win."

The Bates and Turners Titan baseball is a family affair. In the 2003 College World Series, Frank and Pat Bates and John and Judy Turner cheered their grandson, freshman All-American Justin Turner and former Titan batboy in his first College World Series.

Remembering Omaha

“Titan baseball is to Cal State Fullerton what football is to USC.”

Holly Barnett '79 described her first trip to the World Series in 2003, with her husband Steve, and son Will, a former Titan batboy, as "a dream come true.'

“It was bigger than life, a bigger stage than we'd ever played on before. We were the dark horse who lost our first game and needed to win five in a row for the national championship, and we did it.”

Kurt Kingsolver
Member of 1979 national championship team

“This atmosphere, this community, you couldn't duplicate this anywhere. And it's authentic. People don't realize—Omaha is college baseball.”

Brian Quinn, Cal State Fullerton director of athletics commenting on the first "Titan House" at the 2003 College World Series
