Join in Celebrating Camp Titan’s 40th Anniversary

Camp Titan celebrates its 40th year of operation in 2009, says Anthony Ragazzo, ASI Student Services director. The ASI Camp Titan staff is planning a celebration, and would love to hear from alumni who have volunteered in the past.

Please contact Ragazzo at aragazzo@fullerton.edu or call 714-278-7734.

Typically, Camp Titan also receives Los Angeles Times Summer Camp Fund support. The program is accredited by the American Camping Association.

Approximately 140 children attend the camp each year. Fifty Cal State Fullerton students volunteer their time as counselors. To prepare, the students train once a month for three months. “[For the counselors, it’s about] feeling good about doing things for the community,” said Ragazzo. A number of the counselors who volunteered last summer were returning counselors, such as CSUF student Angela Meyers.

Throughout the year, 20-year-old Meyers admits, she can barely take care of herself. Yet for one week each summer, Meyers is responsible for eight children, making sure they brush their teeth, take naps, do their chores and are ready for the day’s activities.
