The top student hangouts on campus, not surprisingly, are the Titan Student Union and the Titan Arcade. Off campus, the top draw is the
Off-Campus Pub. Starbucks lagged behind, in a respectable third place. Other off-campus places mentioned by survey-takers include Rockin' Taco, the old Velvet Hog, downtown Fullerton and Phi Kappa Tau's Barn.
When studying, students prefer to hit the books in the Pollak Library, followed closely by the Titan Student Union, rather than in their home, cars, on the campus lawns, in their sororities or at other locations.
Both the Quad and the Titan Student Union are popular hangouts between classes, ranking far ahead of other locations such as the Becker Amphitheater and the new Fitness Center. Also mentioned as hangouts were the Pollak Library, Carl's Jr. and "my car."
Food is a big issue among Titans. The Titan Student Union is believed to have the best food, followed by Carl's Jr., but five respondents said that crashing a catered event is certain to yield the tastiest culinary results. The food from the Garden Cafe, the Nutwood Cafe, and M.J.'s all received high marks, but 15 voters said none of the food on campus is worth trying.
In & Out Burgers is, by farm the leading off-campus eatery, with Del Taco a distant second place and Denny's third. Rutabegorz, Pepe's, Chipotle and the Off-Campus Pub received honorable mentions, but "my Mom's house" ranked fourth.
Romance is alive and well in Fullerton. By far, those surveyed say that the best place for single students to meet each other is in class. And there's a lot of making out going on–the preferred location is virtually everywhere and anywhere on campus. There are also many make-out sessions apparently going on in the Arboretum, the Pollak Library's study rooms, and in all the parking lots.
And who knew that so many students napped in their cars? (As opposed to the library's study room, the Music Listening Room, or other places on campus?) Yet one can apparently spot students slumbering in, of all places, the Quad, the Titan Student Union, in class, in the Pollak Library, or in the Theatre Green Room.
The Library's honeycomb is Titan's favorite architecture on campus, according to the Best of Fullerton survey, followed by the Nutwood Parking Structure and the Arboretum. Other structures, including Titan House, were also mentioned in the survey as being worth a second look.
