As the performing arts come of age at Cal State Fullerton,
a $48 million center heads toward completion and a central vision
for student performance becomes reality.
story by John Kroll
The original plan was simple: Build a 1,200-seat
theater for concerts, plays and dance recitals. But one day,
or one night–he can’t recall if it was in a dream
or in the shower–an idea came to Jerry Samuelson, dean
of the College of the Arts. Why not divide the 1,200 seats
into four smaller spaces: a concert hall, thrust-stage theater,
dance performance studios and black box theater?
